A Wellness Coach Shares the 1 Daily Self-Care Practice That Helps Her Feel "Connected"
Although working out and eating a healthy diet are important parts of a well-balanced life, self-care is just as important. Kym Ventola, a wellness and business coach and founder of NINE Women's Retreat, emphasizes the importance of holistic wellness to her clients, because if you don't feel mentally or emotionally healthy, you won't feel physically healthy either. To get some insight, we spoke to Kym and asked her about her own daily wellness practices. She shared one in particular that she just can't get enough of.
"This changes often! I have to reevaluate my self-care habits during different seasons of life," she shared with POPSUGAR. "Right now, the most important habit is to go for a walk or run each morning. No music, no talking on the phone or taking photos. I immerse myself in nature, listening to the birds or the wind in the trees. I try to identify plants, flowers, and trees. I say hello to neighbors and sometimes we stop to chat. I feel more connected to myself, nature, and my community."
This time is crucial for Kym to feel fully in tune with herself. "I turn off my ringer and notifications during this time," she continued. "The phone stays put away during this sacred time."
Kym told POPSUGAR the decrease in her screen and social media time has significantly improved her health. "I feel like I've gained hours each day," she said. "I feel less lonely and less judgmental. I am focusing on quality over quantity in friendships and time spent online. These new boundaries are everything!"
