Kim Tran, Ph.D

Diversity, Equality & Inclusion

We’re all committed to a more equitable world, but many of us struggle when it comes to talking about difference; whether it’s related to race, gender, and sexuality or class. As women committed to inclusion, diversity and social justice, how can we grow our ability to engage identities that shape lived experience? Creating Space to Create Change is an interactive teaching session geared toward helping the participants of the NINE retreat do both. The session will focus on personal dynamics, including how to navigate challenging conversations and see your own blind spots. By engaging the individual, we will begin to actualize the micro shifts necessary for broader social change.

Takeaways from her class:

• Increased literacy/vocabulary around race, gender and sexuality

• Comfort discussing and addressing identity and difference

• Awareness around the impact of personal blind spots

Kim Tran is a is global equity strategist who uses a grassroots organizing and transformative justice approach in NGO, educational and non-profit spaces.
